I loved seeing Jake telling about his traditional Thanksgiving Day with his family. Read on & check out the video below:
And if you're part of the Gyllenhaal family, that means apologizing to your guests when your dad completely freaks them out! "We have a family tradition of stabbing the turkey before we eat it," Jake Gyllenhaal tells iVillage exclusively. "(My dad) always takes the knife and stabs it and makes a screaming noise...It's really weird and embarrassing when people who haven't been to our Thanksgiving dinner see that."
& also here is Jake on CBS The Early Show this morning, damn the man is everywhere! Can't wait to see this movie & I am out the door to see it soon!!!
OMFG, Monica from gyllenhaalics just posted the link to the Love & Other Drugs red band trailer on the I'm Stalking Jake forum a little while ago. I about died when I watched this. It is SO good & what can I say other than WOW! This movie is going to be Jake's best since Brokeback Mountain, I would be willing to bet. I can not wait until November 24th, it can't get here soon enough! Whoo-hoo!!! Check this out...
I love this, they won for Best Rock Video for their video, Kings & Queens from "This Is War" CD last night!!! However, they lost to Lady Gaga for best video of the year. WTF? That's just wrong! But there's always next year, Gaga, you best move over, 30 STM will kick your ass next year, I promise you that!
Leto was magnificent on stage when he accepted the Moonman for Best Rock Video. He was so humble & actually dedicated it to their massive fanbase, The Echelon! Very cool, indeed, dude. I can't wait for "This Is War" music video to be released for next year's VMA's, I would be willing to bet it wins all over the place.
Well, I have taken way too long to post my opinion of this movie, after all, I did see it over a week ago. So, here goes. I loved it! It was much funnier than I was expecting. Will Ferrell is a very odd guy & I have absolutely loved some of his movies, & others are just OK. This one is one that I really thoroughly enjoyed. & Mark Wahlberg doing comedy? Who knew??? He was great in this playing Will's character's borderline nemesis. In reality their characters are partners on the police force, first sitting opposite each other at desk jobs, then thrown into being detective partners. They make strange bedfellows for sure, but complement each other very well, playing off each other's odd comedic wit. I was strangely enough a fan of Mark's way back in the day when he was "Marky Mark", singing hip hop with the Funky Bunch, who soon realized his real talent lay in acting. I do believe I have seen all his movies since, most of them I really liked, with the big exception of The Happening, a major Shyamalan disappointment in '08. I really wanted to not find fault with Wahlberg's acting in that movie since he is normally excellent in everything else. But honestly his performance was totally wooden & maybe that was the fault of the director? Who knows? Back to The Other Guys, I found it very fun, funny, & Ferrell was in the zone in this one way moreso than his last one that flopped, Land of the Lost. Another one that I wanted to see be a hit. I thought that movie would be a fun nostalgic silly romp & went to see it believing I would love it. I didn't. I liked it OK, but that just doesn't cut it anymore, in my opinion. So, again back to The Other Guys, Dwayne Johnson & Samuel L. Jackson have a bit part in it in the beginning that is brilliant & the other main character in the movie is played by Michael Keaton as their police captain. I was always a major Keaton fan from the beginning of his career & have truly missed him, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him in this playing his normal weird type of character he was always so good at.
Here is the trailer to check out >
I give it 2 thumbs up & say go see it now, it is worth the ticket price if you love outrageous comedies, & definitely Ferrell & Wahlberg do not disappoint at all. Hope to see them in a movie again together some day actually.
Well, this is a weird post for me as it is a first. My best guy friend ever, Bart Brown, passed away 6 years ago tonight & even though I am not commemorating his death day, I am remembering him with love & I still miss him terribly. I thought I would post a few pics of him here & just remember the great times we had together.
OMFG, I am SOOOO beyond upset that their Texas gig was cancelled. It was bad enough that they were originally scheduled for a tiny venue in Austin (don't get me wrong, I LOVE Austin & find any excuse to visit), but now it has been cancelled. Why??? I don't get it, they weren't even scheduled for any other Texas venue either. I still think that they should be able to pack the Toyota Center here in Houston, damn that would have totally rocked! OK, I will try to find peace within now so I can write how absolutely excellent this band is. Their music is outstanding rock, with different sounds all over the place. Makes it even better in my opinion. Not sticking with just one sound on all tracks is much better, imho. I hear influences from U2, Queensryche, & other bands. This tour is to promote their latest album, This Is War. I actually love their first 2 albums, 30 Seconds to Mars, & A Beautiful Lie, but this one is by far their best. 30 Seconds To Mars official website
Fronted by Jared Leto, as well as rhythm guitar, his brother, Shannon Leto on drums, Tomo Milicevic on lead guitar & keys, they have an amazing energy that doesn't seem to ever quit on stage. They even went down into the audience to play for most of one concert to the dismay of the people that paid mucho for tickets in front of the stage. Of course, yours truly here has not had the pleasure of seeing them live yet since Texas failed to make the cut for an appearance for some crazy reason, but I have seen all the clips of them in concert from this tour on youtube. All I can say is what a show it must be from the bits I can see. Leto has proven himself a good actor since around '94, but now has truly proven himself as an excellent composer & singer. He never fails to give their fans a show either, always keeping it fresh, frequently changing his style & color of hair, (he apparently really digs mohawks). Another really cool plus are the short films they are making for their music videos, one really excellent one is "From Yesterday" off the CD, "A Beautiful Lie". The video was shot in China & was released in 2006. Here is the full 13 minute short movie of "From Yesterday" posted on Hulu here >
They were just nominated for a VMA for Best Rock video & Video of the Year for their Kings & Queens video from This Is War. You can vote for them here for Video of the Year & here for Best Rock Video
Here is the official short movie of "Kings & Queens" posted on Hulu here >
Evidently his acting experience is helping with the video making as all of them are very good & worth watching. The newest one I am anxiously waiting to see is their title cut off This Is War, they keep putting up teasers on youtube of what's to come & damn if it doesn't look like an actual war movie.
Here is a teaser:
OK, yeah they ROCK! I can't wait to see this new video if they ever release it, they have already put out 3 teasers of it in the past couple of months.
I am editing this to add something I forgot about, the band organized over a thousand 30 STM fans to record a "digital summit" to add to several of their tracks on the This Is War album that sounds so incredibly like a professional choral, it blew me away. Below is a video about this on youtube:
OK, I have one more thing to add & that is their new music video of "Closer to the Edge" that was just released today, August 16th. I LOVE this song! Here you go > Thirty Seconds To Mars - Closer To The Edge

Well peeps, I am out of here for now. So go see 30 Seconds To Mars if they come to a town near you. It will be well worth your money, I assure you.
Well, I think I went a little nuts when Prophecy Girl over at I'm Stalking Jake gave us Gyllenhaalics a little Blingee Project to keep us busy while SHE was off gallivanting about Nashville to see the one & only Paul Effing McCartney!!! I was SO envious & was like, oh yeah, making blingees out of my most recent favorite obsession really makes up for missing out on one of the biggest musical geniuses of the last century, NOT!!! But in all fairness, I must give Prophecy Girl her due since she has to be the BIGGEST PM fan of all time for her generation. I was so impressed at her knowledge of the Fab Four as well as Paul himself. Plus she wrote the most heartfelt review as well as her whole fucking experience that day last week. She deserves major props for her blog about it alone. I so wish I could have been there with her, it would have been the BEST. CONCERT. EVER. OK, enough whining about my non PM experience. I vow to go the next time he hits Texas though, I swear I will find a way.
So here are my Jake Blingees, they were supposed to be funny & crazy, not so much fan-girlish. Way too old for that shit. Check this out:
Well, that was fun, but I'm done, so now what should I do with myself?
Am planning to see Dinner For Schmucks, Salt, The Other Guys, & Inception again (since my teeny OCD brain went into a weird overdrive with the 1st viewing & almost imploded), so I will be back soon with more movie reviews for NORMAL peeps. Thank you for watching.
OMG, I saw this beautiful movie Saturday with my sister & brother. Where do I start? I have noticed a lot of harsh criticism of it already online & users giving it less than a 5 out of 10 on imdb. WTF? Did they see the same movie I saw? Zac Efron is amazing in this movie. I have to admit I never paid any attention to him when he was in the High School Musicals, but when I caught his last movie, 17 Again, on cable a few months ago, I was blown away by his emotional range. He really can act. His courtroom scene where he pretends to read a letter brought all kinds of tears to my eyes. What a powerful scene that was. So, that said, now back to Charlie St. Cloud. He outdid himself with his emotional range in this one & no wonder since he loses his little brother in a tragic car accident where his character not only was driving, but wasn't supposed to even be out, so it could have totally been avoided. He really did a wonderful job portraying humor, angst, self torment, horror, devastation, happiness, new found love, & so on.
Of course it doesn't hurt that he is absolutely beautiful with the most gorgeous eyes, he very much reminds me of a younger Jared Leto, who nearing 40 now could actually have played his older version in 17 Again & been way more believable than Matthew Perry, although I realize the reason for Perry being cast, with his wry wit & self deprecating humor, it made for more funnier moments than had Jared (who is way better looking) been cast instead. OK, I digress, back to Charlie St. Cloud. Charlie Tahan who played his younger brother did a very good job with his part, not great, but very good & I see a real acting future for that young man.
The love interest played by Amanda Crew, a young Canadian who has had bit parts in a couple of movies I have seen, was excellent & I hope to see more good things from her in the future. Some things in the movie were not at first evident to me where they were going with it, I had virtually heard nothing about the script, & all I had seen prior to the movie was the trailer. OK, please note, possible spoilers ahead here....
I was pleasantly surprised by what they put in it as far as a supernatural theme went. Kind of like a "ghost whisperer" or Sixth Sense theme.
The cinematography was gorgeous being that it was filmed in British Columbia, & I especially loved the sailing scenes.
Well, anyway, I give it 2 thumbs up & highly recommend it unless you are one of those people that only like rom-coms. If so, then skip this one.
But seriously, how can you say NO to this face???Here is the trailer:
Glitter Graphics
Whoo-hoo, Prince Peter Pan, my ULTIMATE hero!!! OK, I had some serious down time obviously so I could delve into the art of Blingee making. Heh & what better subject to play with than my lovely Jakey?
